This was a critical case for us as this was our first (trial) case for a potential client – a national carrier. So the pressure was on to help the client to achieve cost savings!
Since the claimant had years of experience in the nursing industry, it only made sense to try to find jobs within the same industry, looking for no-touch/no-lift work. The claimant seemed upbeat about returning to work. Our strategy was to contact viable employers, sell the claimant’s background and schedule interviews. Given the background of the claimant and the job market in Naperville, we had no trouble locating open, suitable jobs.
The first interview we scheduled for the claimant was a full-time Caregiver position at an assisted living company very similar in nature to the insured. The employer, because of the claimant’s experience, wanted to meet the claimant and discuss the job as well as physical restrictions. The claimant failed to show.
We went on to schedule eight more job appointments for the claimant, for jobs such as: Receptionist, Care Aide, and Front Desk (hotel)
Of the nine total appointments we scheduled, the claimant did not show, or sabotaged seven appointments. Due to this noncompliance, our program was able to create undeniable leverage for our client to have the upper hand on the claim.
Workfinders USA was on this claim for approx. four months. The claimant eventually settled to avoid court, our testimony and our relentless documentation.
Another example of how aggressive Return-to-Work will help the defense save money on workers' compensation claims. The difference between a passive Return-to-Work vendor and an aggressive one could be literally hundreds of thousands of dollars per claim! Make sure you know how your vendor is working your work comp claims.
Final numbers are below:
Maximum Exposure = $872,000
